By June 30, 2025, every producer of electricity from a photovoltaic power plant (FVE) must have a manufacturing EAN assigned when purchasing surplus electricity, i.e., their own production site identifier. This change stems from European legislation and brings several practical implications.
What exactly is changing?
✅ EAN will be newly assigned to all production sites automatically by the distributor. The condition is a concluded connection agreement for the production site.
✅ It will not be possible to operate the purchase without a manufacturing EAN.
✅ The production site will be separated from the consumption point – meaning that the purchase and consumption of electricity will be governed by two separate contracts.
✅ The manufacturing EAN must have so-called imbalance responsibility secured, i.e., the settlement of differences between planned and actual electricity production.
Without these prerequisites, it will not be possible to connect the EAN to the market – and thus not to realize the purchase of surplus electricity.
